Criteria for Cryogenic Storage of Cell Samples at Genico

The samples stored by Genico meet international standards for the storage and use of cord blood stem cells, as defined by the International NetCord Foundation in cooperation with the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT):

  • The facility in which the stem cells are stored is "accredited, appointed, authorized, or licensed" by the authorities of its own country (Switzerland)
  • The facility in which the stem cells are stored has a certified quality-management system
  • For imported stem cells, traceability criteria are guaranteed
  • Donor selection (case history) is documented in accordance with legally prescribed selection criteria
  • The results of tests and examinations done on units of cord blood and maternal blood samples are available as set forth in current Italian law, and parallel samples of cord blood and maternal blood on which these tests are done are available
  • Cryogenically preserved samples of cord blood are available on which quality tests and tissue typing can be done before the unit is used.
